Radiation dose-independent inactivation of isologous mouse lymphoma cells by nonspecific resistance.

چکیده
An X-ray dose-independent inactivation process for LSA mouse lymphoma cells was quantitatively assessed. The process reduces survival of tumor cells at all levels of cell X-ray dosage and survivorship. In these experiments, the dose-independent inactivation constant was quantitatively determined and essentially reduced the tumor cell population at risk. This resistance appears to correspond to a non specific process which could neither be actively produced nor passively transferred, but which was sensitive to and reduced by whole-body irradiation. It appears to be more efficient against very small numbers of cells (one), either in a small challenge inoculum of cells or as the surviving cell in a larger number of radiation-killed lymphoma cells.

Cytotoxic and neutralization tests with serum and lymph node cells of isologous mice with induced resistance against gross lymphomas.
Sera from mice which had been rendered resistant against the isologous transplanta tion of Gross virus-induced lymphomas in the way described in the preceding paper were found to be cytotoxic for the cells of Gross lymphomas when tested in vitro in the presence of complement. The humoral antibody or antibodies appeared to be specific for the Gross lymphomas as suggested by the absence of detect...
متن کاملOral Administration of Vitamin C, Cimetidine and Famotidine on Micronuclei Induced by Low Dose Radiation in Mouse Bone Marrow Cells
Background: In many studies, chemicals and natural materials were tested to reduce the harmful effects of radiation. It is known that Famotidine and vitamin C reduce DNA damage. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the radioprotective effect of vitamin C, Cimetidine and Famotidine on gamma-radiation-induced damage on mouse bone marrow. Methods: Six-to-seven week male NMRI mice (28...
متن کاملYCF and YAP gene expressions in yeast cells after irradiation combined with mercury treatment
Background: All aerobically growing organisms suffer from exposure to oxidative stress, caused by partially reduced forms of molecular oxygen, known as reactive oxygen species (ROS). These are highly reactive and capable of damaging cellular constituents such as DNA, lipids and proteins. Consequently, cells from many different organisms have evolved mechanisms to protect their components...
متن کاملKlein E & Klein G. Antigenic properties of lymphomas induced by the Moloney agent. J. Nat. Cancer Inst. 32:547-68, 1964
Mouse lymphomas induced by the Moloney agent were strongly antigenic in isologous hosts, as indicated by transplantation and serologic tests. Specific transplantation resistance was established by pretreattnent of the recipients with homografts of other Moloney lymphomas, small isografts of the same lymphoma, or virus-containing lymphoma homogenates. Extensive cross-resistance was demonstrated ...
متن کاملDemonstration of host resistance against sarcomas induced by implantation of cellophane films in isologous (syngeneic) recipients.
Whether it is possible to build up host resistance against sarcomas induced by the implantation of cellophane films was studied by pretreating autochthonous and isologous (syngeneic) hosts with heavily irradiated cells of the same tumor. In the ten available autochthonous hosts, whose tumors had been operatively removed, no resist ance could be demonstrated after pretreatment with irradiated ce...
